While working in Hospital/Healthcare Finance as a CFO, Fiscal Services Director, Regional Business Office Director, etc., community service and youth development was always a vital part of my focus in life. Through my church, community organizations, or my own Ministry, I have served as a mentor, youth development/empowerment counselor, spiritual advisor, and a true advocate for teens. In 2007 I graduated class valedictorian with my Bachelor in Theology. In 2009 I received my Master of Theology degree (class valedictorian) and returned to the Institute as a teacher of Evangelism 101. I was ordained as a minister in 2009.

I completed the classes to become a (TRIPLE P) Positive Parenting Practitioner of levels 2, 3, and 4. In 2012 I completed a 12 hour course and was certified in Mental Health First Aid USA Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid. This certification provides training to provide initial help to people experiencing mental health problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis and substance abuse disorders. My services have been shared with youth throughout California, Illinois, Texas and multiple states over the past 40 years.

I have shared my experience, knowledge, and education with the Youth of Harris County becoming the Director of Positive Parenting for Tools 4 Life. I helped facilitate parent/child workshops for released youth on probation for Archdiocese Galveston Houston. I volunteered in the correctional facilities working directly with the teens, weekly, while providing individual Triple P sessions with their parents/guardians while the youth are on probation.

In the summer of 2015 Youth SOULutions was launched. A new Faith based ministry for young girls at Harris County Leadership Academy. I am dedicated to helping young people overcome the negative mindset to which they often succumb and help them realize their true self-worth. The services include four components:

My name is Yesenia Plancarte and this is my testimony. I am a product of God’s Grace and saving mercy.

I grew up in Houston Tx and the youngest of 3 siblings. I first encountered the Juvenile Justice System at the age of 14 years old. I was a teen with a lot of questions. The absence of a father Troubled me which lead me to seek my identity in the negative surroundings of my environment.

I was addicted to drugs and alcohol, depressed and at times thoughts of death would torment me. I tried to seek help in many institutions but upon coming back home to the same environment- I felt hopeless and failed time and time again. I was placed out of my home several times and resided in different places trying to find an answer to my problem, to the misery and generational curse that I could not seem to escape from. I continued to run to the “comfort” zone I knew and the behavior that I was accustomed to. I roamed the dark and cold streets of Houston Texas seeking and searching for an answer or antidote to set me free from a mental seclusion. A heart hardened by anger, hate and bitterness didn’t seem to find the freedom that I desired. It was the last trip to Juvenile that opened my eyes and GOD revealed to me that my life has a purpose! God purpose was not for me to spend my life in prison but to invest it in the lives of others. I had an unforgettable experience that changed my whole perspective, and I knew that I was still alive and on earth for a greater reason, a purpose, a God given design.

Today I am dedicated and passionate in helping this next generation pursue their purpose and break the cycle of recidivism.

Being a part of a great organization that is purposeful in impacting the lives of the undeserved, underprivileged and the forgotten is my joy. We can make a difference but above that- we are striving to teach these kids to BE the difference in their family, in their community, and in the world!
