Aproximately 1000 youth were admitted to Juvenile Justice Centers. Over1000 are placed in Juvenile post-adjudication facilities. While a decrease from the previous year the average utilized capacity was high at 50%. There are high cost and adverse impact to public safety. For the last four years, referrals to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD) have steadily decreased. The decrease in referrals to HCJPD can be attributed to many factors including: COVID19, the collaboration and input from community-based agencies, faith-based programs, law enforcement. Also, other youth advocate programs have been instrumental in improving the state of juvenile justice in Harris County. Youth SOULutions is a vital factor at Harris County Leadership Academy. The success of these partnerships can be measured by the life improvements of the youth served. Our ultimate goal is to provide a residential ranch for young ladies, which will support a balanced life within a safe environment.
